Flowers, bouquets and potted plants are extremely difficult products to transport due to their delicate nature, as well as their requirement of soil and water to keep the product alive. Atlas Packaging’s design team have created a number of innovative flower boxes and flower packaging solutions to combat these issues.
Atlas Packaging and the design team of four structural designers and two graphical designers work closely with the client to ensure that their flower boxes and flower packaging is not only extremely protective of its contents but also adds a wow factor for the consumer, emphasising the luxury and sentiments behind the product.
Structural integrity is extremely important throughout Atlas Packaging’s product line, but is of particular importance for products as delicate as flowers, and great emphasis is put in the strength of the design of flower boxes and the materials used in order to ensure that no harm will come to the contents during transit. This includes innovative design features including flower boxes that will retain both a flower and its water if the package falls over or is even inverted during transit. The use of high grade corrugated cardboard offers strength and resilience to knocks and drops.
High Impact Flower Packaging
Just as important is the immediate impression the flower packaging presents to the customer when the flowers or bouquet is delivered. Ensuring that the flower packaging communicates luxury and high quality can be achieved through the use of design and print features including lithoprint, silk screen printing and flexo post print with the most up to date water based inks.
Packaging Supplier Awards
Custom and uniquely designed flower packaging from Atlas Packaging includes work for clients including Interflora, whose flower boxes are finished in a deep glossy black print with gold embellished logo, indicating the luxury and quality of the brand. The Interflora Luxury Hex Box by Atlas Packaging has been recognised in the 2011 Starpack Industry Awards, having been presented with Silver in the “Luxury, Promotional & Giftware” category and Bronze in the “Consumer Distribution Packaging (Business 2 Consumer)” category.
The Starpack awards are the UK packaging industry's most prestigious and long-standing awards scheme, with annual presentations to packaging companies who show innovation, environmentally sound credentials, and champion the needs of the customer.
A requirement from the “Hairy Pot Plant” company for Atlas Packaging included packaging for their coir pots (appropriately named ‘Transplant’) which would ensure the soil would be retained during transit. This was achieved with the use of specially designed quick-assembly flower pot packaging created from corrugated cardboard with voids to house the pots. When the box is folded shut, the tops of pots are covered with a cardboard lid which acts as a retainer to keep the soil in place. This design has also received silver Starpack Award for the ‘Best Component’ and a bronze award for ‘Best Transit Pack’” awards for its innovation and environmentally-sound use of recycled card.
Atlas Packaging use lean manufacturing methods to ensure cost effective packaging solutions for clients and all products are manufacturered with materials from FSC-certified renewable sources.
